Day 38: Marysville, OH to Wooster, OH

Distance: 98.70 miles

Elevation gain: 3,896 feet

Avg speed: 15.5 mph

Max speed: 41.7 mph

Moving time: 6:22:06

Once again, better late than never. I just finished putting together my video for the day 39 ride (but have not uploaded it yet - trying to gather opinions on which pic to use as a thumbnail for it). While I wait for those opinions, I thought it would be a good time to “put pen to paper” regarding day 38. This was actually a pretty challenging ride. I suppose all four of those last four rides leading into the rest day are challenging though. Day 37 was a long day, days 38 and 39 were long-ish and had a fair amount of climbing, and day 40 is ALSO long-ish (but without as much climbing). Day 38 was particularly tough though, as I believe more than half of the day’s climbing was in the last 20-ish miles, and was fairly steep. Also, there was the added challenge of it being a chilly day, combined with some light rain and being underdressed for the conditions, and by the end I was downright shivering!

(Before I get TOO carried away, here are some of my favorite pics from the day.)

We actually talked about these at dinner. This is called a “corn crib,” and it is used for storing corn (though I believe it is just for animal feed).

Those sure look like edge lines to me….

If you are standing here and still need a sign to help you find the elevator, you have probably already had too much to drink….

And, of course, the video of the day:

Today’s ride (day 39) was another climbing day, and the video has been posted to YouTube already, but I think I need my sleep, so it looks like (at least) one more day of being behind by a day with the blog. Sorry. Have a good night!
