Day 32: Springfield, IL to Champaign, IL

Distance: 91.29 miles

Elevation gain: 1,421 feet

Avg speed: 15.2 mph

Max speed: 29.9 mph

Moving time: 6:01:24

We made it to our fourth rest day! This trip is going to be over before you know it. It’s actually surreal, because it’s so hard to wrap my mind around the fact that I’ve made it this far already - on a bicycle, under my own power!

Today’s ride was a fun one for me, perhaps even one of the highlights of this trip. I have not done much in the way of group cycling in the past, but I got to do just that for about the last 15 miles of our trip to Champaign. And, if that isn’t enough, this is the rest day where Teresa is visiting me! It’s going to be a GREAT rest day! And, as an added bonus, the day AFTER the rest day my son Zach will be visiting me in Crawfordsville, IN! It’s gonna be a great start to the next week of cycling!

The donuts at one of the SAG stops today were a huge hit!

One of the members of our group about to partake of one of the local delicacies. (That’s a cicada. And no, he didn’t ACTUALLY eat one. I know - ewww!!!!)

Just a cool building we passed while making our way into Champaign

And, of course, today’s video:

Since tomorrow is a rest day, there will be no ride video tomorrow, but stay tuned for my rest day recap along with the story and photos of whatever it is that Teresa and I decide to do tomorrow. Have a good night!
